The minor basilicas have two special attributes: the umbel basilica, also called flag or conopeo (umbrella) and tintinábulo.
The badges are worn on the processions with a particular protocol. Tintinábulo carrier follows the processional cross and behind it is the bearer of the umbel. How are you emblems badges are not liturgical, are assimilated to the standards and are therefore carried by lay people, preferably people linked to the basilica.
